Normalizing and geocoding databases are prerequisites for the geographic visualization of information and their analysis.
From the database to georeference
Different data sources, a lack of verification and input errors can all contribute towards databases being full of incomplete, duplicate or wrong addresses.
UbiEst’s normalization functions can control, check and correct information, guaranteeing a high level of quality.
CALCULATING REGIONAL CODING AND GEOGRAPHIC COORDINATES
Previously normalized data can be coded: georeferencing is the stage where information is connected with a map.
Each record – which will be visualized – is assigned a pair of geographic coordinates from an address.
Geocoding addresses is carried out from data available in “personal data” bases.
The fields of Province, Comune, Street Name and Street Number generate a pair of coordinates that are memorized alongside the personal data of the location so that it can be put on the map, enabling proximity searches and geostatistical analyses to be carried out.
