The European Commission welcomes the developments of the QALL-ME Project

The European Commission welcomes the developments of the QALL-ME Project.

The QALL-ME Project is an European Commission initiative to establish a multilingual and multimodal Question Answering platform for mobile phones.

The project aims to create a platform where people could, by phone, ask questions in their own language, to obtain information about a service or a place. The project, lasting three years, is conducted by a European consortium, led by Bruno Kessler Fundation in Trento Foundation Bruno Kessler. Four of the participants are academic institutions (ITC-irst, University of Wolverhampton, University of Alicante, and DFKI), while the others are industrial partners (Comdata, UbiEst, and Waycom).

UbiEst has provided the project its experience in delivering mobile solutions accessible via SMS or wireless connections and services based on the geographical location of resources in addition to its owned technology for mapping.

Recently, Comdata presented a prototype application in the tourist sector, in the city of Alicante: people involved were able to do a lot of questions in English, in order to find hotels in the city center and explore prices, availability and features of accomodations.
